Pushing Forward

So, last saturday I attended the Heroscon over in Charlotte, NC. My roommate was super excited about it because shes gone to it for years. I really.... wasnt feeling it at first. Ive been to a few cons. But Im not very big on superhero comics. I like them alright, but Ive never been one to go out of my way for them. But she was persistent about me going. And as usual she was right. It was awesome. Artist Alley was the focal point--- rather than a sideshow. Juanjo Guarnido was there talking about Blacksad-- which is an amazing comic and if you havent read it then you really really should. Artists that I had met before back in Michigan had booths, Alumni from my school were even there. It was just such an amazing environment that was carved out for the artists and the actual art of comics. It was really just the sort of wake up call I needed that there is no better time than now to start writing. Even if I dont get to the actual meat of writing a comic for years, I need to start working on the skeletal structure of the story now if I ever want to publish my own stories. Its difficult, you know? To get up onto your own two feet. Ive been a little too focused on keeping my head down at my day job and keeping my bills paid but Ive watched family members live their entire lives that way and I dont want that for myself. I want what I saw at that con. OK SO--- Anyway, self motivational speech aside, Im trying REALLY hard to get this site functional--- its pretty buggy still, I know. Meanwhile Im working on a script for a webcomic. That HOPEFULLY I will have enough written for to get to work on the first few panels by my 24th birthday in a few months. Hopefully. Is the operative word there. Its going to be a lot of work. But my goal is to have a booth at a more minor con in around 14 months... which means.... I need something to actually show to people. But hey, if anyone has any advice on how to fix the obvious bugs in my page or which platform to release a webcomic on I would LOVE to hear it. Visit my "Contact me" page. PLEASE. Because Ive been floundering around with what I want to actually do with my art for far too long.
